Frequently asked questions

Achilles Journey helps you document an Achilles tendon recovery. It's educational — not medical advice — and your clinician's plan always comes first.

What is Achilles Journey — and what is it not?
Achilles Journey is an educational documentation tool for people recovering from an Achilles tendon rupture. It helps you record your recovery — daily check-ins, milestones and measurements — and see where you might be on a general educational timeline. It is not medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, prescribe, recommend rehabilitation, or decide whether it is safe for you to progress. Your treating team's guidance always comes first.
Does it cover both surgical and non-surgical recovery?
Yes — it supports typical, uncomplicated surgical (primary repair) and non-surgical (functional rehabilitation) pathways. During onboarding you tell us which applies to you, and your timeline reflects that. Complex or atypical cases may not match the general timeline — in that situation, follow your treating team.
Are the protocols instructions for what I should do?
No. Protocols provide educational context — what people commonly experience around a given recovery stage. They are not treatment directions, deadlines, or medical clearance. What you should actually do next comes from your clinician, not from the app.
What if my clinician's plan is different from the timeline?
Your clinician-led plan always takes priority. You can record what your treating team has told you under "clinician instructions", and Achilles Journey will note that your recorded plan takes precedence over the general educational timeline. The educational content never overrides your clinician.
Can I join partway through my recovery?
Yes. Enter your injury date (and surgery date, if applicable) during onboarding and you'll be placed on the timeline from the right point — even if you're joining weeks or months in. You can add backdated check-ins to fill in earlier days.
Can I add or edit past check-ins and missing days?
Yes. From the check-in date stepper — or by selecting a day in your Check-in history on Progress — you can add or edit any day between your injury date and today. You can't check in for future dates.
How is my privacy handled, and what about community insights?
Your recovery records are visible only to you — access is enforced at the database level, so other users and our internal admin tools cannot read your personal history. Community insights are optional and off by default; if you opt in, some check-ins contribute to anonymous, aggregated stage statistics that are only shown once enough people have contributed, and free-text notes are never included. You can delete your recovery data or your whole account at any time from your profile. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Is it free? How do I report a problem or give feedback?
Yes — Achilles Journey is free to use. It's built independently and in ongoing development, so it may have rough edges. If you hit a bug or have feedback, email hello@achillesjourney.com. For privacy questions, email privacy@achillesjourney.com. See the Contact page.If it's helped your recovery, an optional tip keeps it running and independent — no pressure.Support on Ko-fi
